OPEN will be hosting a virtual training titled "AI Essentials for Research and Evaluation" by Tom Hughes, GSH Education Group. Space is limited to 15 OPEN members.
Join Tom Hughes for a hands-on pilot of his revised AI Essentials for Research & Evaluation course, designed for evaluators and applied researchers who want to use AI tools more mindfully and effectively.
You'll explore:
Some of the hands-on activities include working with AI to build logic models, content creation (a survey for this class), and quantitative and qualitative analyses. Tom will also share a six-step prompting strategy that gives users better outputs from large language models.
A couple days before the course, participants will receive a welcome letter and some data files that we will use in the webinar.
What we ask of you:
Show up, engage with the activities, and share honest feedback. Come with access to at least one free AI tool — ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini are preferred, as those are what we'll work with directly. Copilot or Perplexity may also work for some activities. Having all three preferred tools is great, but not required.
*OPEN online events are typically not recorded. However, we encourage presenters to share information and resources from their session after the event to everyone who registered in case you were not able to attend.
OPEN is a registered 501(c)6 organization.
